If someone was actually arrested for kissing someone with garlic breath, the case would be thrown out of court. Fugazi would be the most well-known band that has something to do with straightedge. Ian Mackaye was the founder of the movement after all, even though there were various folks in the early-80s punk scene (both coasts) that were getting sick of the scene's nihilism. Hell, even people who weren't sXe thought it was getting out of control (Jello Biafra being one of the most notable). Anyway...umm... Some friends of mine that are sXe (and vegan, even) are in a band called Gift Horse, but I don't think they're signed anywhere, so you've pr'y never heard of them. Another friend of mine in that same sXe vegan group (but not one of the two in Gift Horse) I think was in an Indiana band called Birthright; don't know how vocal/extreme they were, tho'. Hmmm...there's a band in Louisville called the Metroschifter that I think might be sXe, but if they are, they're certainly not very fuck-you about it. Dunno. Interestingly, another band that's very definitely hardcore sXe vegan - Earth Crisis - is actually not into that sort of "fascistedge" scene. I've read and seen interviews with the band and they're interesting. They hold their views very* strongly (e.g. rather be shot than eat meat), but they won't force them on anyone else, and they only means they go to to change people's minds is just playing. They try to lead by example. And of course, there's equipt.
